Yolanda Ojeda's Obituary
Yolanda Ojeda Memorial Card Obituary
Yolanda "Yolly" Ojeda was born on March 15, 1943 in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico. She was two years old when she moved with her parents Sebastian and Frances Ruiz, brother Rene and sister Ethel to the United States. The family, now with brothers Robert, Rudy, and sister Rosie, would settle in Linda Vista. Yolly was 12 years old when her wonderful smile and zeal for life caught the attention of a young boy at a teenage party. His name was Arthur, nicknamed Tutor. Yolly and Tutor would spend the next 67 years together, an inseparable couple. They were married on April 29, 1961. Tutor got a job later that year in Plattsburgh, NY, where on August 30th, son Artie was born. Exactly four years later, son Steve was born back in San Diego. In 1972, the family moved to Yolly's "dream house" in Tierrasanta. Everyone was welcome. Yolly hosted incredible parties, serving up her famous Strawberry Margaritas! Those parties were so popular, the cops would show up to quiet things down! Yolly spent her life as a loving and devoted wife and mother, who's caring and kindness knew no boundaries. She worked as a waitress for decades at Tom Ham's Lighthouse. She later worked at Nordstrom. A personal highlight came in 1982, when she became a naturalized U.S. citizen. Yolly also had a passion for sewing, specializing in colorful warmup suits - maybe you were lucky enough to get one! Later in life, Yolly showed incredible strength and courage, as a cancer survivor. She passed away surrounded by family on September 6, 2022. She is also survived by the pride and joy of her life - granddaughters Kaycee and Stacey, and three great grandchildren.
