Youa Pao Vang's Obituary
Youa Pao Vang was born on April 10, 1918 in the village of Sampakha, Muang Hiem, Luang Prabang Province of Laos. He was the eldest son to the late Nhia Yao Vang and Pa Yang. With five brothers and five sisters, he often spoke favorably about his childhood and life experiences with his siblings in Laos.
In 1953, Youa Pao joined the military and fought in the France Indochina War under the command of General Vang Pao. From 1960 to 1975, ranked as Colonel, he also fought the most brutal battle in the S.G.U. of the United States of America C.I. A. secret war in Laos (Vietnam). As part of a special guerilla unit, Youa Pao will always be remembered for his courageous acts and strong leadership. Youa Pao was married to three wonderful wives, Ms. Zhang Thao (deceased in 1982), Ms. Changmee Moua (deceased in 2010), and Ms. Yia Lor. He was admired by many for his generosity, selflessness, and words of wisdom. Above all else, Youa Pao was a great family man. He found happiness with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He taught his grandchildren to always strive for the best and never stop learning. Aside from spending quality time with family, Youa Pao enjoyed watchig the news, being a handyman, and collecting antiques. On June 4, 2017, Youa Pao passed away. He is survived by his spouse Yia, his two sons Peter (Susan) and Blong, his three sisters, grandchildren,and great grandchildren. He lived a life of joy, love, and pride. We were all blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Youa Pao during his ninety-nine years.
