Ethel Louise Spracklen's Obituary
Ethel Louise (Starkey) Spracklen, 94, of San Diego California, passed away Thursday, 27 October 2016.
Born on February 10, 1922, in Decatur, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Lee Starkey and the late Urcil Levina (Parks) formerly of Decatur IL. Her husband of 52 years, Paul Spracklen and one sibling, Marjorie Starkey, preceded her in death.
Ethel was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She loved spending time with friends and family, traveling with her sister and taking photographs, shopping in antique stores and she loved to share stories. Ethel was truly the glue that has kept this large extended family close over the years. She always had a way of saying something kind and loving whether it be on a phone call, an in person visit over coffee or a well thought out birthday card that she never forgot to send. Her loving and kind heart will be missed by many but never forgotten as our lives were truly blessed every day that we were able to spend with her.
Ethel is survived by four sons, Danny and his wife Kathleen, David and his wife Yadira, John and his wife Betty, and Philip; one sibling Jack Starkey; four granddaughters, Teresa, Amy, Emily and April; and four grandsons Michael, Paul, George and Edgar as well as thirteen great grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
A viewing will be held on Thursday November 10, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Clairemont Mortuary 4266 Mt. Abernathy Ave. San Diego, CA 92117. The burial will take place the following day November 11, 2016, 10:00 at Holy Cross Cemetery at 4470 Hilltop Dr. San Diego Ca. 92102.
