Suzanne Murphy's Obituary
Suzanne (Harrison) Murphy was born November 7th, 1943 in San Francisco, CA to Tommy Harrison and Frances (West) Harrison. She attended Poly High in Long Beach, CA and graduated from Long Beach State University with a degree in Education. She married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence (Tim) Murphy June 12th, 1965 in Kodiak Alaska, due to Tim’s assignment in Kodiak with the Navy.
As a career Naval officer’s wife, she fully embraced the lifestyle, spending 20 years moving around the world living in Alaska, Hawaii, Taiwan, Virginia, Italy, Germany, Japan, Panama, and San Diego. Of all the places she lived, Italy held a special place in her heart, where she came to love the food, culture and people.
Suzanne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a dedicated schoolteacher. She was fully invested as a school teacher and devoted all her time and energy to her young students. She eventually became a mentor teacher and helped guide, coach, and develop other teachers entering the profession.
Suzanne had a passion for interior decorating and took great care in designing and decorating the different homes the family had over the years. She loved reading, spending time with family, and cooking. She was considered a true gourmet chef by friends and family.
Suzanne is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lawrence Murphy, her sons Mark and Tim Murphy, her daughter-in-law Jane (Chang) Murphy, her granddaughters Alyssa and Sophia Murphy, Star Bozkir and her sister, Debbie (Harrison) Johnson.
